The Rotary Club of Ankeny committed to provide two $1,000 scholarships at each Ankeny high school through "Dollars for Scholars" for 2024 for a total of $4,000 in scholarships. One scholarship at each high school was to be named the "Gary Welch Memorial Rotary Scholarship". The winners of the Rotary scholarships will be as follows:
Ankeny High School - Gracie Block - Iowa State University with a major in Medicine
Centennial High School - Thomas Gilbert - The University of Minnesota with a Major in Spanish
The winners of the Gary Welch Memorial Rotary Scholarships will be:
Ankeny High School - Miranda Geest - Iowa State University with a Major in Elementary Education
Centennial High School - Abigail Fickbohm - Roosevelt University with a Major in Music Performance
The scholarship will be presented at Ankeny High School on May 15th and at Centennial High School on May 21st. Both Steve SchraderBachar and Colleen Welch plan to be present to assist with the scholarship presentations.
