World Polio Day was, October 24th. To celebrate the progress Rotarians have made in eradicating Polio, videos showing the history of Rotary’s PolioPlus campaign were shown at both the noon and evening meetings on October 22nd. Then, instead of the sheriff passing the bucket, members were asked to consider making a contribution to the Rotary Foundation to be designated to PolioPlus. Thank you to the many members that make a contribution or agreed to having a contribution added to their next Rotary invoice to be sent in January, 2020. The total pledged through the end of October is $2,610!!
If you would still like to contribute, we will still be accepting the pledge forms and contributions for the next couple weeks. Please remember:
- All contributions are voluntary.
- Your contribution is being matched 2 to 1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
- Your contribution will be forwarded to the Foundation by the club in your name.
- You will receive Paul Harris Recognition points for your contribution.
- Checks should be made payable to the “Rotary Club of Ankeny”.
- Your contribution is tax deductible.
- These contributions will be in addition to and will not reduce the amount the club annually contributes to the PolioPlus campaign.
