During the 2018-2019 Rotary year, with the assistance of a matching District 6000 Community Improvement Grant, the Rotary Club of Ankeny purchased laptops, a laptop cart and a virtual reality system for the Ankeny Kirkendall Library.  Here is a report form the library on how these items are being used.

Laptops and Laptop Cart - The additional laptops have expanded the number of participants in our popular STEM workshops for children and classes for adults.  The laptops allow us to teach coding, 3D modeling, scanning, photo editing, and more.  The laptop cart gives us flexibility to quickly store and set up laptops in any room.   Additionally, the laptops are used by staff for training and meetings.

Virtual Reality System - The HTC Vive is used in our STEM workshops to teach participants about technology and provide virtual reality experiences.  The virtual reality system teaches students about rockets, human biology, coding, and astronomy.  The virtual reality system is used in several other library programs, including the "Where Is?" Book Club and the Teen Harry Potter Night.
