At their February meeting, the Board approved a $500 donation to Variety - the Children's Charity telethon to be held on March 6-7. The mission of Variety is helping disabled and mentally handicapped children. The following thank you letter has been received:
"Thank you for your contribution to Variety- the Children's Charity. Your support is always important, but this year it carries even greater meaning to Variety. Navigating 2020 has been difficult for everyone but the children we serve have been especially hard hit and they needed our help more than ever. You stepped up, saw the needed and provided your support. Please accept our deepest thanks for continuing to believe in Variety and entrusting us to effectively serve children with your donation. The past year may have looked different in how we operated but our end goal never changed... to give Iowa's children the help they need for a brighter future.
Despite the pandemic, in 2020 Variety granted over $2.1 million to 72 children's organizations for building renovations, specialized equipment, programing needs and more. We provided specialized bicycles and mobility equipment to 75 children living with special needs and provided our third inclusive playground at Riverview Park! These are just a few highlights of our year. Without special donors like you, none of this would happen. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.
