The Rotary Club of Ankeny is now 6 months from completing 50 years of service to the Ankeny Community and will be celebrating with a gala on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the FFA Enrichment Center. Here is a moment from the history of Rotary and the Rotary Club of Ankeny:
It is believed the first involvement by the Rotary Club of Ankeny in the Summerfest Parade was 1991. That year, Rotary members participated by announcing the entries as they passed by the Uptown area. Volunteers also assisted at the High School parking lot for 2 hours prior to the parade starting to help gather information on the entries. A few years later, in 1996 and perhaps sooner, Shar Dunlap was in charge of volunteers to assist with the parade registration and entry line up. The club continues to assist with the parade now 31 years later.
