For more than 50 years, SummerFest has brought Ankeny and the surrounding metro area together for 3 days of music, carnival rides, great local food and fun! This year’s theme is “Making A Splash”.
The Rotary Club of Ankeny has participated in the celebration for at least the past 40 years with their first Parade entry in 1985, announcing entries as they passed by the Up-Town area for several years, assisted with staging of the parade entries every year since at least 1994, and conducting a golf ball drop to raise funds for the Ankeny Service Center each year since 2012.
It’s that time again --- time to help with one of the greatest annual events Ankeny has to offer its citizens, as well as those from surrounding communities, the Summerfest Parade. At least 25 volunteers are needed to help make this year’s parade a HUGE success. We will plan to meet at 6:00 (a few volunteers are needed at 5:45) that morning, Saturday July 13th, in the the Ankeny High School parking lot. Coffee and donuts will be provided. If you have not already done so, please contact Rich Bergez, rbergez@nw.bank, to let him know if you are available to help.
