Rotary Donates $1,000 to Ankeny Parks & Rec

In each of the past seven years, the Rotary Club of Ankeny has been a major sponsor of Ankeny Parks & Recreation's Youth in Parks Summer Camp Program. Whitney Burger attended the noon meeting on April 22nd and received a check in the amount of $1,000 from President Dirk Westercamp for sponsorship of the 2014 program.

During the past 5 years, 520 Ankeny youth have participated in the Youth in Parks Summer Camp Program in Ankeny. Each week-long session involves youth in grades 6 to 9 in a half day of community service and a half day of recreation. The program is designed for the participants to develop a sense of community pride through public service.
