The Paul E. Hellwege “Guardian of Integrity” Award is named for Boone Rotarian and Past District Governor, Judge Paul E. Hellwege who passed away in 2010.  The award was established to promote the ideals of ethics and integrity which were Paul’s fervent passions.  This award was introduced in 2011 and has been presented at the District Conference each year to several Rotarians from District 6000.   Each club in District 6000 may nominate one worthy member for this award but no Ankeny Rotarian has ever been nominated.

This award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions that foster the development of integrity.  Rotarians who have made contributions in business, media, academia or government and who has by his or her actions, writing, policies and public pronouncements strengthened and fostered development of integrity and ethical practices.  Special consideration will be given to members who have made sacrifices and/or undertaken risks to uphold Rotary’s Core Value of Integrity.  A nomination by a club in and by itself is a significant recognition and should be treated as such.  The Rotary Club of Ankeny does have many members that are worthy of being nominated and the club does plan to submit a nomination.
