The Rotary Club of Des Moines AM will be hosting a special multi-club event exclusively for Central Iowa Rotarians and guests on Friday, June 20, 2014.  The presentation will be by Naomi Tutu the third child of Archbishop Desmond Tutu.   The event will be held at the Olmstead Center on the Drake University campus with registration and a continental breakfast beginning at 7:15 AM and the program beginning at 8:00 AM.  There will also be a book signing by Ms. Tutu at 9:30 AM.  Naomi will be speaking on "Our Shared Humanity".

 

The proceeds from this event will be donated to Polio Plus and the Food Bank of Iowa/Outreach Inc.  Tickets for the event are $15 each but the Rotary Club of Ankeny has purchased 10 tickets for its members.  If you would like to attend contact Nate Burnham to get you name on the list.

Naomi was born in South Africa and has lived in many countries and communities.  She was educated in Swaziland, the United States and England.  She has divided her adult life between South Africa and the US.  Having grown up the daughter of Desmond Tutu, Naomi has had many opportunities and challenges.  Most important of these has been the challenge to follow her own path and role in building a better world..
