News From Jessica Jensen - Ankeny Rotary Exchange Student to Italy.

December 12, 2013 - I apologize for not writing sooner.  There is no excuse for my tardiness.  I hope to email you every one or two months (or more if you prefer) to keep the Ankeny Rotary Club in tune with everything going on with my exchange to Italy.

I've been in Italy now for about 3 and half months.  Biella, the town that I've been living in is great.  I'm loving school and my host family.  I've had a bit of trouble with this current host family, but I change families in about a month so it's working out.  I've joined one of the music schools in Biella, continuing my violin.  The family that owns the music school I'm attending will be my next host family for the next 6 months, so I'm pretty excited about that.  On November 8th, I went back to the US for the weekend to Boston for and audition at the Berklee School of Music.  The audition went extremely well and I'll hear about their admissions decision on January 31st.

I have been to the Rotary Club that is hosting me - The Rotary Club of Valle Mosso.   The other exchange student from Australia and I presented ourselves in front of the club during a lunch.  They gave both of us a banner from their Rotary club, so when I return back to the US in June or July I would love to present it to you and the club.

How were your holidays?  Also, how's the weather in Iowa?  I heard things got pretty chilly over Christmas.  All of the festivities in Italy have wound down and school is back in swing!  Thankfully the weather isn't so cold. 

This past Saturday I changed host families and they're fantastic!  I moved in with the family that runs the music school I attend, so I'm with them at the school almost all day, every day.  It couldn't be more perfect.  Saturday, the 25th I'm returning to the Rotary Club of Valley Mosso and I'll (hopefully) be presenting the flag from the Rotary Club of Ankeny!
