Kristofer Orth Named "New Member of the Year"
The new members that recently joined the Rotary Club of Ankeny have been very active in social events, service projects and leadership roles. This led to a decision to recognize one new member as the "Outstanding New Member of the Year" for 2013-2014. The guidelines for this award included the member having been a member for at least one full year but not more than three years, the member must have displayed "Service above Self" by participating in multiple service projects, club social events, attended District events, and displayed outstanding leadership qualities. The member selected to receive this award for 2013-2014 was Kristofer Orth.
Kristofer joined the Rotary Club of Ankeny on November 20, 2012. Since then he has served as President Elect of the evening satellite club. During the past year he has worked the vendor booth at Summerfest, helped set up the parade, worked shred days, helped distribute dictionaries, helped with clean up days, attended the Christmas social, annual meeting, new member orientation, Iowa Energy Game, fundraiser, District conference, District Assembly, and several board meetings. In addition he helped with several service projects with the evening satellite club including painting bedrooms for a disabled veteran, planting a flower bed for the city, and collecting for the Ankeny food pantry.
