District Governor Jacque Andrew made her official visit to the Rotary Club of Ankeny on October 1st. Her visit started with Nate Burnham giving her a tour of Ankeny and viewing several of the projects our club has completed or sponsored in recent years. Upon returning to the Ankeny Golf & Country Club, she met with several members of our board of directors. After her presentation, Sally Schroeder presented her with a gift from the club, an Isabel Bloom turkey.
Jacque presented several items for the board to consider including:
-
We should review our By-Laws and update them if necessary.
-
Our club should be able to qualify for a Presidential Citation.
-
This is the 25th year for women being admitted to Rotary.
-
We need to spend more time on retaining members.
-
We should consider a vocational activity such as having members talk about their professions at meetings.
-
The 2014 district conference will be May 2nd and 3rd in Ames.
-
The Bunny Harper Golf Tournament will be on May 1st as part of the conference.
-
PETS will be March 7 & 8, 2014 in Rochester, Minnesota
