Board Approves Four Donations

During the April 9th meeting, the Board of the Rotary Club of Ankeny approved four donation requests.  The requests approved were:

Ankeny Parks & Rec, $1,000 - These funds will be used to provide scholarships for Ankeny youth for the city's "Youth in Parks Summer Camp".  Each week long session involves youth in grades 6-9 in a half day of community service and a half day of recreation.

American Cancer Society - Relay for Life, $500 - This is a sponsorship for Rotarian Rich Job who will be participating with his robotics team in the Greater Des Moines Area Relay for Life to raise funds for cancer research and treatments.  The run will be held at the Ankeny Sports Complex on June 5th.

Ankeny Centennial High School Student Council, $500 - Primarily RYLA alumni are leading a group of students in the planning and carrying out of an event for seniors to package meals and make shoes for people in Uganda, Ethiopia and other countries.  These funds will help with purchase the food and supplies.

Ankeny Community Theater, $300 - This donation is primarily a thank you for the ACT loaning clothing and costumes for the photo booth at our "Hollywood Night" fundraiser.   The funds will be used to clean and repair the clothing and purchase new clothing as needed.
