Since November was "Rotary Foundation Month", Don Goering, Rotary Foundation Advisor, was our guest speaker on November 26th.  He talked about the various ways our club and each member can support the Foundation such as becoming a Sustaining Member, Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society Member, Major Donor, Benefactor, or Bequest Society member.  The first level of contributing is to become a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member.  This is a member that contributes $100 or more each year to the Annual Fund, Polio Plus or any approved Rotary Foundation Grant.

The Rotary Club of Ankeny encourages every member to support the Foundation and contributing is easy.  Contributions can be included in your quarterly invoices.  To be a Sustaining Member, the requirement is only $25 per quarter.  The club then matches these contributions until the member becomes a Paul Harris Fellow.   Also, for every dollar contributed you receive one recognition point.

This means, after five years of contributing $25 per quarter, and with the club's match, you will be recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow for a total contribution to the Foundation of $1,000.  You will also have 1,000 recognition points that you can donate to another club member, family member or friend to make them a Paul Harris Fellow.  Our club currently has 39 Paul Harris Fellows among our 75 members and an additional 18 members are Sustaining member.  If you are not one of these members but would like to start contributing to the Foundation, or have additional questions regarding the Foundation, contact Steve SchraderBachar, Ankeny Foundation Chairman.
