AGAPE Garden Update

In May 2013, the Rotary Club of Ankeny's board approved a donation of $1,000 for a rain barrel project for AGAPE Gardens.  The gardens are a proeject of the Ankeny First United Methodist Church and produces food for homeless meal site and food pantries in the Des Moines area.  Over 15,000 pounds of food is produced each year.   The 500 gallon capacity rain barrel project is now complete and will provide water for the garden by collecting rain water that runs off the nursery roof.  They now plan to complete an irrigation system to connect to the rain barrel.
