The USS Iowa Project is a unique and exciting initiative to support the construction, christening and commissioning of a new nuclear naval warship into active status. The USS Iowa – also known as SSN 797 – is only the 4th U.S. Navy vessel named for the State of Iowa. The USS Iowa is the first attack class submarine built specifically to accommodate a co-ed crew.
