The Rotary Club of Ankeny's Board has approved the purchase of a 12-14 foot Christmas tree to be placed at the AMP location. Art Moeller had contacted the City of Ankeny regarding a possible tree planting project in Ankeny. The city quoted a price of $150 per tree for 1 1/2" - 2" caliper tree for 90 trees to be planted around the city. The city would locate, provide a machine to dig holes and a post. The Board will be discussing this project at the September Board meeting.
The city also asked if the club would be willing to help with the cost of placing the Christmas tree at the AMP location. This will be a live tree that will be spaded in between the two pavilions. This tree will be decorated each year going forward and several Christmas activities are planned for the AMP facility. The total cost to purchase and move the tree is $1,500 which the Board has approved. The city will place a sign near the tree indicating it was donated by "The Rotary Club of Ankeny".
