The Rotary Club of Ankeny has been in charge of checking entries and lining up the participants for the Summerfest Parade each year since at least 1994. The earliest record of the club participation was found in the minutes of the June 9, 1994 Board meeting when "Several people volunteered to assist Shar Dunlap the day of the parade. She could still use more volunteers." This year 25 Ankeny Rotarians arrived at the Northview Middle School parking lot at 5:45 AM and went to work.
