District Governor Chris Knapp and his Rotary partner Vernette will make their official visit to Ankeny, both the noon and evening clubs on Tuesday, August 23rd.  The Board will be meeting with DG Knapp at 10:30 AM prior to the noon meeting.  All members are welcome and it will count as a make up.
 
Chris was born in Ithaca, New York, moved to Iowa City and graduated from Iowa City West High School.   After graduating from Iowa State with a degree in history and teaching certification in social studies he was, for a short time, advisor to fraternities at the University of Iowa.   In 2002, while working full time, Chris earned his EMBA from the Tippie School of Management, University of Iowa.  In 1977, Chris began his banking career at First National Bank Iowa City, which subsequently became U.S. Bank N.A.  During his banking career he advanced through Bank Club Director to Trust Officer.  As Bank Club Director he designed and led tours for customers throughout the United States and Europe.  Vernette was also in banking with stops in Iowa City, Chicago, Louisville, and back to Iowa City.  She has taught banking supervision and management at Kirkwood Community College.  Chris and Vernette were married in 1990 and they have two sons both living in Iowa City.
 
Chris has been a Rotarian for over 25 years and is a charter member of the Rotary CLub of Iowa City A.M.  In addition to being club president in 2000-2001, he has served as treasurer, Youth Exchange Counselor, Club YEO counselor to four Ambassadorial Scholars and the club's inbound GSE team liaison.  In 1991, Chris joined the District Youth Exchange Committee and served as chair for eight years.   Chris and Vernette are Paul Harris Society, Bequest Society, and Major Donors.
