Rotary 6000 District Governor Mike Ruby and his wife Jo Anne will be making their official visit to both the noon and evening clubs in Ankeny on Tuesday, September 26th.  The Board will be meeting with DG Ruby at 10:15 AM prior to the noon meeting at the Ankeny Golf & Country Club.   All members are welcome and it will count as a make up.

Mike & Jo Anne were married in 1969 and lived in Atchison, Kansas for several years.  Mike taught high school business classes and Jo Anne was a consumer and family science instructor at Benedictine College.  While living in Atchison they both earned a master's degree in education.  In 1978 they moved to Muscatine.  Mike taught at Muscatine High School and Jo Anne was a Christian Education Director for a local church.   In 1986 they became the Administrative Staff Couple for the Marriage Encounter Support Foundation, an international Christian ministry to strengthen marriages, where they were employed for 24 years.

Mike joined the Rotary Club of Muscatine in 1979 and served as President in 2004-2005 and 2011-2012.  For several years he chaired the District Membership Committee, served as an Assistant Governor for Area 9, and was active on several district committees.  Mike is a member of the International Skiing Fellowship of Rotarians, attended several Rotary International conventions, participated in a Rotary Friendship Exchange in New Zealand and Australia and was a Rotary volunteer for RYLA. Last year he was part of a team who went to Haiti to meet with residents who are directly benefiting from a District 6000 global grant that built 9 water wells.

Since retiring in 2010, Mike and JoAnne have made travel a high priority.  They have visited most parts of the United States and 25 countries.   They have two married children and one grand child.  Mike writes a monthly newspaper column and would like to author a book. He had ridden RAGBRAI five times, plays the piano, is active in his church and for some odd reason prefers to eat popcorn with chopsticks.
