The Summerfest golf ball drop was held on Sunday evening, July 9th. The balls were dropped from the Ankeny Fire Departments ladder truck from about 60 feet up towards a hole in the grass below. One ball went in the hole with three others close by. The winners were:
1st Place - $1,000 - Scott Murray
2nd Place - $375 - Tim Cox
3rd Place - $250 - Connor Gocke
4th Place - $125 - Brad Harrison
A total of 572 balls were sold. Thank you to Monsanto for donating the prize money, Leaning Tower of Pizza for putting the "free mini pizza" on the tickets and to all Rotarians that sold tickets. Also, a big thank you to Tom Friedman for coordinating the golf ball drop again this year. Your efforts will result in $3,334 being donated to the Ankeny Service Center and $2,222 for the Rotary Club of Ankeny to donate to other Ankeny organizations or service projects.
